ArtPrize 2017 - Parallel Colors

Throughout history, artists have strived to make their work recognizable. It wasn't until the beginning of the 20th Century did branches of new sciences inspire artists to transfer theories from Einstein and Freud to the canvas. Einstein's scientific theories of the "real" world and Freud's theories of the inner mind and are not harmonious when it comes to time. Dream time is not the same as train time but often we experience them side by side each day. For example, traveling on a train and experiencing space passing by can create a mesmerizing stretch of parallel colors. Very often when we travel for long periods of time, we also catch ourselves subconsciously daydreaming. My goal is to represent this experience visually through a variety of mixed media techniques.
